About Deb Zeller

Deb began her art career at age thirteen, when she received a set of oil paints for her birthday. Over the decades she has developed her skills in drawing, painting, glass fusion, encaustic (beeswax) painting, photography and bronze sculpture.

She created a three figure life size bronze commission, Convocation for Holy Family Catholic High School in Victoria, MN. This was followed by a 7 foot tall Goddess of the Grapes commission for Kitchak Cellars (now Krupp Brothers) in Napa Valley, CA, a 10 foot tall Stainless Steel and bronze Police Memorial and a 6 foot tall Parental Love in the infants section of the cemetary for the City of Hutchinson, MN, a 6 foot tall Corpus on a 14 foot steel cross for St. Bernard’s Church in Cologne, MN, and an 8 foot tall Centennial Sculpture for the City of Victoria. Her most recent commission is the 6 foot tall “Rooted in Tomorrow” for the 100th anniversary of Land O’Lakes.

Deb is founder and leader of Bronze Buddies, a weekly working bronze consortium established in March 2002, where she hosted gatherings of up to twelve fellow sculptors in her studio every Monday evening. Unfortunately this group is still on hold due to the COVID-19 uncertainty. She also heads the Minnesota Figure Study Collaborative which meets every Wednesday, involving artists across the state who gather together to work from live models. Deb hires the models, prepares the studio, administers the sessions and tops off each weekly session by creating over a dozen quick sketches and an oil painting.

She was featured in a four person exhibition in New York City, participated in the Loveland, Colorado sculpture exhibition and had a solo exhibition at the Crow River Arts Gallery in Hutchinson, MN. Deb has had publicly installed sculptures in Castelgar British Columbia, Canada, Sioux City and Mason City, IA, Sioux Falls and Yankton, SD, Gillette, WY, Eau Claire WI, Bemidji, Edina, Hopkins, Hutchinson, Mankato, Minneapolis, Victoria and Waconia, MN. Her life size bronze sculpture, “The Plunge” is permanently installed in a 4.5 acre sculpture park in Altona, Canada. Her sculpture “The Man and the Muse” was featured on the label of the inaugural Parley Lake Winery Artisan Series Proprietary Red Wine.
